Welcome to Seek These Things. I just want to take a moment to tell you what this blog is about. Over the years, I’ve found that some of my Christian brothers and sisters can react to the world of modern pop culture with, an overabundance of caution. Growing up, I knew kids who weren’t allowed to watch some of the things I enjoyed because their parents or their pastor said it was demonic. As an adult, when I told a lady in my women’s Bible Study group that my mom read the first two Harry Potter books to me, she looked at me like I’d grown an extra head.

I’ve never been much for the idea that Christians (as a whole) shouldn’t read/watch/play/enjoy X thing because it’s ‘demonic’. Rather than closing ourselves off from the world, I think we need to trust God. If something is truly not something we, personally, should be engaging with for spiritual reasons, He will tell that person. The Holy Spirit will tell them.

However, for my part, I think a lot of the media Christians reject out of a knee-jerk reaction, actually does bear good fruit that we can learn from. My purpose with this blog is to point out that fruit.

“Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things.” – Philippians 4:8 NKJV

Instead of looking for darkness, let’s look for the light. I think you’ll be surprised how much light we can find in some unexpected places.
